We provide plenty of ways to get started on playing the ukulele, even in COVID-times.
Or if you're an old hand on this four stringed wonder then we offer plenty of ways to join a more advanced group and take part in performances. Check out all the options below...
Ukestras
Ukestras meet every week around Newcastle and the Lower Hunter Valley. We also perform at many gigs throughout the year including at Ukulele Festivals, around the country and even internationally!
What will you get from your involvement in a Ukestra?
You will undoubtedly learn some ukulele technique (and songs), you will probably sing, you may end up playing for the family at Christmas time! You will probably spend less time in front of the telly, less time scrolling on your device and, at worst, you may find yourself up on stage performing at festivals with a bunch of other people who have discovered the joys of making music together and who are having a huge amount of fun.

Beginners Workshops
In order to participate in a Ukestra, you need to at least have some basic knowledge of the Ukulele. Don't have that??? Then come along to one of our regular (roughly monthly) beginners workshops.
But if you are uke-ready to join a Ukestra (and most guitarists should be fine without a beginner workshop), contact us and you can get started.
Sing With Us!
Most people who play the uke secretly want to sing too! They often don't know it though. So we do lots of singing at ukestras, often very good singing!
Jane also runs two choirs - Ukestral Voices - on a Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon. These are currently in abeyance, awaiting a vaccine.
And about once a month we have a very special singing event - the One Song Sing where 150+ people come together to sing one song. Please join us after a vaccine becomes available.
