Ukulele performances in term 4
Just to let you know that the children will do a performance in the auditorium at Souths Merewether (46 Llewellyn st) on Sunday 13 December. There will be quite a crowd there and it will be a great opportunity for the children to show their ‘chops’! Please keep this date free if you can and please help your child to find time to practice, just 2 x 5 minutes a week would be great!

Term 4 2015 ukulele at Waratah School starts in the second week of Term.
The Jukestra (Junior Ukestra)
The Waratah Jukestra is Newcastle’s premier junior performing ukulele group, and the classes provide more intensive ukulele / singing / music class than those delivered during school times.
- It is a one hour class
- Students are required to practise at least twice weekly
- There is a far greater emphasis upon reading music
- We often secure rather significant performance opportunities (think New Zealand, large theatres and audiences).
We have taught ukulele at Waratah Public School since 2011, and many of the kids who have grown up with ukulele have graduated to High School. Jukestra children have performed at significant ukulele festivals such as the New Zealand Ukulele Festival, the Newkulele Festival (in Newcastle in 2014 and 2012), and at the Civic Theatre for the Lions Club National Convention. The Jukestras have students from schools across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie
You DO NOT have to be a student at Waratah Public School to enrol in the Waratah Jukestra program.
