Report – 2 July 2013
Very strange! Back to low twenties came along tonight. When this happens Mark tends to ‘read the group’ and focus upon some thing more difficult and technical. Where last week it was really a big singalong. This week we focussed on practising a few more diligently.
Jane insisted on trying her hand at the bass, so we did Keep on the Sunnyside to keep it simple. We then had a go at Danielle’s arrangement of I can see clearly now. When we focus upon a song, it can take a half an hour of tuition and refinement. This happened with Under the Maui Moon – AJ Leonard’s song (which we can see on Friday week). We also had goes at River of Dreams (Billy Joel), Wagon Wheel, Busy Line, and Under the Milky Way. A rather pleasant, relaxed and low key evening.
Report – 25 June 2013
After quite a few months of low to mid twenties roll up, Tuesday night was a shock! About 35 people came along including 3 twenty-something young women, a 12 year old, 2 newbies to uke (guitarists in other lives) and one new Entree graduate.
It was a hoot of a night, and Mark took us through almost like a greatest ukestra hits from the last 3 and half years.
Amalina & Julia sang an amazing harmonised version of Price Tag. And it came together rhythmically (what a relief!).
Maddie did a great job on Sunshine of Your Love. Incredible that a twenty-something knows her way around a 1967 song with such a well honed vocal.
We just ploughed through a bunch of mostly contemporary songs and we nailed it so well. What a joy of an evening.
