This is our favourite, best produced video, filmed by Benoit and Gaga from Groovy Banana.
The Shoeless Legges is a song written by Mark about Mick’s family – the Legges of the Myall Lakes area. Listen, watch, enjoy. Laugh at Mick’s camera-shy awkwardness and Mark’s appalling acting skills. Thankfully a spontaneous magpie rescues the whole video before we all give up and disappear. From our album – Barefoot Blurgrass.
Groovy Banana also filmed our live version of Price Tag on the Legge’s verandah at Deep Creek, near Bulahdelah. It was raining a lot. It was winter. It was cold. We were barefoot.
C’mon! Cut us some slack. This was the first or second time we’d ever performed this one! At St Albans Folk Festival 2010. An original by Nikki Legge, with some friendly sledging between band members to get things off on the right foot.
Kiss (yes. the one by Prince)
This was our first ever gig at the St Albans Folk Festival in 2010. We hope we have improved significantly since then! People get introduced. Noone was harmed during this gig. Note that we are back-announced as ‘The Flying Penguins’. We changed our name very soon after! And this was also before Mick had finished making his own mandolin, built a double bass, and started spitting out top quality ukuleles.
Another verandah vid. Must be summer. Birds n all. A song by US punkish band – Jimmy Eat World. Nikki is now playing Mick’s home made bass. Jane is playing one of Mick’s ukes.
Sorta busking in Bulahdelah. Just enjoying a coffee really. We have heard that this song is so popular that some folk festivals have signs that say ‘Wagon Wheel free zone’. There was no such sign at this coffee shop.
