There is no avoiding it. I am 60. It’s that, or death. And so I choose ageing gracefully, and in community.
The anniversary of my birth, also coincides with the anniversary of us starting this thing we call Ukestra. So let’s celebrate both – 60 years of life in this body, and 13 years of life in this community. To quote the ubuntu axiom: I am who we all are.
When? Thursday 3 November 2022.
Time: 6:30-10pm – come and go as you please.
Where? Carrington Bowling Club – first on the left over the bridge into Carrington (if you don’t know where that is, you’re probably not coming).
What? It’s a really long ukestra – three and a half hours. We’ll have a dance floor, we’ll have drums (thanks Tom Dowding), and we’ll have a John Wallace to take some of the load. We’ll have breaks. Mark and Jane will be on stage at times to assert musical authority. There is usually some Thursday night response to significant birthdays, things of which I am unaware. If you need to know about such things, you possibly should talk to Jane.
Instruments: Please feel free to bring one. Or at least sing. Competency preferred.
Set List: If you RSVP, we can send you the link.
Cost? Nil, not even charging regular Thursday nighters. Buy your own drinks and food. Sorry, but we ain’t that rich.
Food is of course available from the Bistro, and drinks are served by wonderful, community-minded bar staff and a Manager beyond compare.
Please. No gifts. Unless you are friends with Putin, then I can think of numerous gifts to the planet. Or you can talk to Jane.
