Rehearsal in Katoomba
DATE: SATURDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2022
TIME: 2-2:30PM
PLACE: Coles Car park, bottom level, right next door to the Carrington Hotel venue.
On top of this is the Council Building containing the Library and Cultural Centre. Below that is Coles. Below Coles is a carpark. Below that carpark is another carpark. I think this would be the bottom one. Either drive straight in there, or catch the escalators down from Coles. I’m pretty sure there is some space there that we could occupy for a 27 minute rehearsal. We’ll have the portable amp, but no drum machine.
THIS MAY CHANGE IF WE FIND A MORE SUITABLE SPACE, BUT WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EMAIL YOU FROM KATOOMBA. You presumably have our phone numbers (Mark – 0430434291) (Jane – 0478624883), but please, use the ever reliable grapevine on the street to confirm the rehearsal time and space.
The Newcastle Ukulele Community makes a very significant contribution to the Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival, probably the largest of any community (outside of the Blue Mountains community themselves).
The festival is on the weekend of 11-13 February 2022. At this stage the Ukastle Ukestra are scheduled for Saturday 12 February at 5pm.
To ensure COVID compliance the festival now costs $10, primarily to keep track of numbers. You can book those tickets here.
The Dinner/Show tickets will again be available through the Carrington Hotel. This sells out quickly (Friday night) and you should yourself stay in touch with the festival so that you can know when they go on sale.
Rehearsal Fee
We will have four rehearsals with a flat rehearsal fee of $20 (whether you do 1 or all rehearsals). You can either pay this to the usual spot, or (preferably) in cash at a rehearsal.
REHEARSAL DATES (locations will be continually updated)
First Rehearsal – Wednesday 8 December – 6pm
Second Rehearsal – Wednesday 12 January – 6pm RAILWAY SHEDS AT FORESHORE PARK

Click here or the Zoom logo to attend the rehearsal virtually.
We usually do a last touchup rehearsal in the forecourt of the Katoomba library just before the performance, but keep your ear to the grapevine for final details. Ask other ukestrans on the street on the Saturday for a confirmation.

This came up surprisingly well. We will ask a few good harmony singers to take up Jane and Mark’s harmony with Will. If you can learn the plucking, that’s great!
