Term 4 2015 ukulele at Cardiff High School starts in the first week of Term.
Go here for Cardiff South Jukestra program.
The Jukestra (Junior Ukestra)
The Jukestra is Newcastle’s premier junior performing ukulele group, and the classes provide more intensive ukulele / singing / music class than those delivered during school times.
- It is a one hour class
- Students are required to practise at least twice weekly
- There is a far greater emphasis upon reading music
- We often secure rather significant performance opportunities (think New Zealand, large theatres and audiences).
We have taught ukulele at Cardiff South Public School since 2011, and many of the kids who have grown up with ukulele there have graduated to High School. However many of the students at the Cardiff High Jukestra have also been attending Jukestra classes for 3+ years. They have performed at significant ukulele festivals such as the New Zealand Ukulele Festival, the Newkulele Festival (in Newcastle in 2014 and 2012), and at the Civic Theatre for the Lions Club National Convention. The Jukestras have students from Warners Bay High, the Hunter School of Performing Arts, Hamilton Public School, Lambton High and Cardiff High, amongst others.
You DO NOT have to be a student at Cardiff High to enrol in the Cardiff High School Jukestra program.
