Who is Ralph Shaw?
Ralph Shaw is a witty Canadian raconteur with an infectious joy of performing; a showman with a vintage banjo-ukulele; a gifted songwriter whose tender and comical songs are so deceptively sophisticated they appeal to every listener. With a style inspired by the Vaudeville and Music Hall, Ralph sings about village vicars, brothel handymen, and evil cats (amongst other things). Whatever, his hilarious and sometimes tender songs thrill audiences with music and laughter.
Ralph’s ukulele workshops are a tour de force, helping new and experienced players get to grips with their instrument and performance technique. With a catalogue of five solo albums, 4 teaching DVDs and an acclaimed book, Ralph Shaw has played a crucial role in creating the current ukulele boom.
Ralph performs at international festivals and intimate local shows such as his now legendary Vancouver Ukulele Circle: a get-together of 150+ ukulele strummers.
In the below video Ralph is joined by a bunch of others to play Viva Las Vegas. More videos and information are available at Ralph’s website.
