Wednesday Mornings – 10:15am-12:15pm
Kotara Bowling Club is home to a Ukestra established in March 2012. There are around 30 regulars with attendances usually in the teens (though the age range is definitely not teen!). After a few years under their belt, the majority of people are now intermediate but there are some more experienced players (and singers) regularly attending.
The venue is light, airy and spacious enough that the convenor (Danielle Scott) can be challenged to keep everyone within earshot and playing as a unit! Danielle’s program of teaching is a combination of skills development within the context of the general Ukestra repertoire as well as basic singing techniques and simply having fun playing enjoyable songs.
The group has its own theme song (see below) and regularly participates in performances (at Nursing Homes or Ukulele Festivals). The theme song was written by everyone when they were originally located at the Alder Park Bowling Club. In all they are an enthusiastic, friendly group who love a laugh and are always keen to try out songs which will improve their skills.
Over the past twenty five years Danielle has performed in a variety of bands, trios, duos and solo (guitar, bass, ukulele, vocals) as well as character based stand-up comedy.
The cost to attend is $16.00 casual. To purchase ten or five tickets in advance, it works out to be $13 per session respectively.
The Kotara Bowling Club is in Howell St, Kotara.
If you are new, we do like to know if you are coming. So give Danielle a call (0427 773 387) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Hope to see you soon on a Wednesday morning!
